The centerpiece of this year’s festival is the month-long exhibition by Dr. Deborah Willis. The exhibition, Posing Beauty explores beauty in its many forms, and challenges our most fundamental assumptions about what it means to be “beautiful.”

We welcome noted poet, philanthropist, Neo-African Abstract Expressionist Painter and co-founder of Def Poetry Jam!   

7pm - Legacy Awards Ceremony and Show, Temple Performing Arts Center, Cost: $25, CLICK HERE TO RSVP 

The festival's biggest highlight, hosted at the Freedom Theater. The Legacy Awards will honor phenomenal contributors, to Black Literature, art, and community, featuring the Urban Guerilla Orchestra as out House Band, the lovely Dyana Williams as our host, and many more special performances and tributes. 

10am-2pm - Literary and Arts Conference, Church of the Advocate, FREE, donations welcome, CLICK HERE TO RSVP

Choose from more than 25 workshops, panel discussions, film screenings and author readings. Hosted at the historic Church of the Advocate, this year's conference will feature some of the region's most talented authors and artists, including a youth track to enrich the teens and little ones! 

2pm-6pm - Outdoor Street Festival and Concert, Church of the Advocate, FREE, donations welcome

In partnership with the historic Church of the Advocate. Join us after the Literary and Arts Conference for family fun and entertainment including vendors, performances and other family-friendly activity!

Screening of the documentary film "BaddDDD Sonia Sanchez" at the African American Museum in Philadelphia.  Featuring the story of poet and activist Sonia Sanchez.
